ACACIA RISING COUNSELING was founded by Dr. Roxanne George and Linda Seidel, MA, LPC in 2004 in Corvallis Oregon. Roxanne relocated to Bend Oregon in 2008, and has continued with her private practice.
FORMAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Roxanne is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Oregon. Roxanne received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science specializing in Family Intervention from Oregon State University; her M.Ed. degree specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Oregon; and her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: I am committed to growing and learning as a therapist and human being, and participate in over 20 hours of continuing education and trainings per year. I am a Certifed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC-I) in the state of Oregon. In addition, I have completed Levels I and II of the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training, and am currently working towards EMDR certification through EMDR HAP (Humanitarian Assistance Program: a nonprofit organization dedicated to the effective treatment of traumatic stress disorders in under served communities in the world).
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Giving my time back to the community is a core value I hold. I am currently on the steering committee for the Clinicians Network, and also volunteer my time to the Human Dignity Coalition (HDC). For fun, I spend as much time as I can in the outdoors, hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, and rafting to name a few!
