Acacia Rising Counseling & Roxanne George

Acacia Rising Counseling was founded by Dr. Roxanne George (aka Dr. Rox) and Linda Seidel, LCSW (a dear friend and mentor) in 2004 in Corvallis Oregon. Dr. Rox relocated Acacia Rising Counseling to Bend Oregon from 2008-2016, and currently resides in lovely Ranchos de Taos, NM, while continuing to serve clients in both locations. Formal Education & Training

Dr. Rox is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Oregon (#T0762) and New Mexico (#0185271). She received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science specializing in Family Intervention from Oregon State University (2004); her M.Ed. degree specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Oregon (2003); her M.S. degree in Water Resources Engineering from Oregon State University (1999), and her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines (1988).

Continuing Education

Dr. Rox is committed to growing and learning as a therapist and human being, and participates in over 20 hours of continuing education and training per year. She is Certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) through EMDR HAP (Humanitarian Assistance Program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the effective treatment of traumatic stress disorders in under-served communities in the world). Extracurricular Activities

Giving time back to the community is a core value for Dr. Rox. While residing in Bend, she was the steering committee presentation coordinator for Clinicians Network, and also volunteered her time to the Central Oregon Human Dignity Coalition (HDC) and Pride events. For fun, Dr. Rox enjoys spending as much time as she can in the outdoors – hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, rafting, and camping to name a few. Dr. Rox has also proudly climbed 45 of the 54 Colorado 14’ers (her home state), and is hoping to finish all of them before she is 54 (and then she is going to take up scuba diving, as it is way easier on the body)!

Ms. Soleil & Bella

Ms. Soleil (1999-2014), Dr. Rox’s therapy companion for almost 15 years, was awesome at making everybody feel welcomed and cared for. Her nemesis Bella, a rescued German Shepherd with a very traumatic past, is slowly healing & learning to trust again. If you have allergies or are uncomfortable with dogs, please let me know.
